The makers of Nakkhul's next, The Dark Heaven, unveiled the first-look poster of the film on Monday. The poster features the actor with a walkie-talkie in his hand and sporting a serious look. The Dark Heaven is directed by Baalaji, as well as produced by Kothai Entertainment and MS Film Factory. The story of the film is said to revolve around a series of mysterious murders that take place over an interval of seven years. Interestingly, the film marks Nakkhul's first role as a police officer. The actor plays an inspector who investigates the murders in the story. Speaking to CE, the director says, "After Kantara, there were not many films about Nattar Marabu (folk religious tradition). So I wanted to combine it with an investigative thriller." About his choice of going with Nakkhul as the male lead, he says, "He has done lighter roles in his career so far. It looked really fresh for me to see him in a thriller space; I wish and hope that even the audiences feel the same way."
Talking further about the plot, the director says, "The film is about a cop who investigates a series of murders that happen in a village. Some men are found dead mysteriously every seven years. The male lead will uncover the secrets behind the killings."
With a release planned in the first quarter of 2025, the director said the film has been shot in the areas bordering Kerala, Tenkasi, and Mukkudal.
Starring Renu Soundar as the female lead, the film also has Saran, Kesavan, John Alex, Manoj, Tony Dayal, and Bragan in important roles. The Dark Heaven has cinematography by Manikandan BK, music by Sakthi Balaji, and editing by Raja Arumugam. The shooting of the film is happening in full swing, and it will be dubbed into languages like Telugu, English, and Hindi.
Other details about The Dark Heaven, such as the film's release date and trailer, are yet to be announced by its makers.
