We had earlier reported that actor-director RJ Balaji will be headlining a film bankrolled by Million Dollar Studios, the production house behind hit films like Good Night and Lover. The makers have now announced that the film has been titled Happy Ending and released a title teaser on Thursday. The romantic comedy film is helmed by debutant Ammamuthu Surya.
The almost four-minute-long teaser begins with RJ Balaji sitting with a girl with whom he has come out on a date. The girl asks him if he has loved someone else in the past for which Balaji denies. When she questions again and again, he mentions that he has not fallen in love, but fell into too many messes. The teaser then takes a dark turn with his past girlfriends attacking him for various reasons. They list the reasons for parting ways with him by brutally beating him up and leaving him in a pool of blood. The makers of Happy Ending describe the film as "an un-romantic comedy" which will see RJ Balaji in "a fresh, never-seen-before role, promising an entertaining twist on love and relationships."
Details of the other cast members in the film as well as the plot have been kept under wraps. But from the teaser, it looks like RJ Balaji's character plays a person who has stopped believing in love as he has had his heart broken many times.
On the technical crew, Happy Ending has music by Sean Roldan, cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman, editing by Barath Vikraman and production design by Raj Kamal. The upcoming film is also backed by MRP Entertainment and is set for a theatrical release in 2025.
RJ Balaji was last seen in Singapore Saloon, directed by Gokul, which was released earlier this year. Up next, he will be seen in Sorgavaasal, directed by debutant Sidharth Vishwanath. On the directorial front, he is joining hands with actor Suriya for his upcoming film, tentatively titled Suriya 45 which will have music by AR Rahman.
