We had earlier reported that Vidaarth's upcoming film with Vani Bhojan, Anjaamai, would be released in June. The makers have now announced that the film, directed by debutant SP Subburaman, will be released on June 7. Upon its release, Anjaamai will clash with Vasanth Ravi and Sathyaraj's Weapon and Mohan's Haraa.
Earlier, the makers shared the trailer of the film which Vidaarth as a theatre actor and Vani Bhojan as his wife. Their son is an aspiring medicine student, who finds the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET exam for medicine, difficult to clear. We then see Rahman as an advocate who fights against the need for the NEET exams.
Anjaamai is expected to focus on how the NEET exam affects students. Speaking about the film, director Subburaman said, "Education has majorly become commercialised now so much that students end up toiling for decades before they receive the fruits of education. I have translated my thoughts on this issue into the film."
Anjaamai, the director pointed out, would be a film that revolves around family dynamics while also maintaining a gripping narrative. "We have added a few surprises in the film. I am sure that every person, be it a parent or a child, would be able to relate to the pain felt by the characters," he added.
Apart from Vidaarth and Vani Bhojan, the film also stars actors Rahman, Krithik Mohan and Ramar, among others. The technical team comprises music by Raghav Prasad, cinematography by Karthick and editing by Ramsudharsan. The film is a maiden production venture of Dr M Thirunavukarasu under his banner, Tiruchithram, and will be presented by Dream Warrior Pictures.
