
The makers of the Vasanth Ravi-Sathyaraj starrer Weapon released its official trailer the other day. The trailer gives a glimpse into the action-packed world of the film, where Vasanth Ravi is part of a gang of assassins on a mission to kill Sathyaraj’s character, whom they describe as a “gangster,” “ghost,” and “superhuman.” The trailer shows an airborne Sathyaraj striking a yoga pose and has other references to his character’s otherworldly powers. It also refers to terms like Swastik and Kali Yuga (the age of darkness).
Weapon is the sophomore work of writer-director Guhan Seniappan. It also stars Rajiv Menon, Mime Gopi, Tanya Hope, Rajeev Pillai, Kaniha, Yashika Aannand, Syed Subhan, Maya Krishnan, Benito Franklin, Gajaraj, Raghu Esakki, and Shiyas Kareem. The film also features esteemed film critic Bharadwaj Rangan in a cameo role.
MS Manzoor of Million Studio produced the film, whose locations include Chennai and its surrounding hill stations. It has cinematography by Prabhu Rhagav, editing by Nash, music by Ghibran, and stunts by Sudesh.
Weapon is slated for a May release.
