On Friday, Lyca Productions, the production house bankrolling Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan shared that actor Amitabh Bachchan joined the sets of the film. Pictures of the two actors were shared online on Lyca Productions' social media handles.

Vettaiyan is directed by TJ Gnanavel of who shot to fame directing the Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim (2021).

The photos showed Rajinikanth and Amitabh hugging each other, and another photo showed them deeply engrossed in discussion. Sharing the pictures, Lyca Productions wrote, “The Titans of Indian Cinema! Superstar Rajinikanth and Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan grace the sets of Vettaiyan in Mumbai, with their unmatched charisma.”

It is to be noted that the duo are reuniting for a film after 33 years. Their collaboration dates back to films like Andhaa Kaanoon (1983), and Geraftaar (1985). Their last film was Hum, which was released in 1991.

Apart from Rajinikanth and Amitabh, the ensemble cast also stars Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Rithika Singh, and VJ Rakshan in prominent roles.

Vettaiyan, which began filming in October last year, features music by Anirudh Ravichander. This marks Ravichander's fourth collaboration with a Rajinikanth starrer after Petta, Darbar, and Jailer. Other members of the technical crew include cinematographer S R Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres this October.
