Lokesh Kanagaraj at Inimel Music video launch: I will definitely carry this experience to my films

The music video of the independent song 'Inimel' generated quite a buzz online as it was announced that director Lokesh Kanagaraj would star alongside Shruti Haasan, who composed the song.

On Monday, the independent track was launched at a grand event in Chennai at the Express Avenue Mall, the event was attended by both Lokesh and Shruti.

The song, which had the tagline, 'Delulu Is The New Solulu', portrays the peaks and valleys in a romantic relationship, showing the different stages it goes through, from dating to marriage and an eventual falling out.

Speaking at the event after the song launch, Shruti Haasan said, "'Inimel' started as an English song, after appa's (Kamal Haasan) inputs on the lyrics front, the song got a Tamil makeover while retaining what was good in the English lyrics."

Making her mark in the independent music scene, Shruti felt that since film music is so dominant in the country, independent music needs to grow by at least 20 per cent in India.

Sharing his on-screen experience playing a romantic role, something so tonally different from his directorials, Lokesh Kanagaraj said he agreed to Inimel because of RKFI. "I can't say no to RKFI as it's like my home. I agreed to do Inimel since it required just three days for shooting, second of all Kamal sir is backing it and thirdly because of Shruti and her team."

When we asked the Leo director if he learned anything from 'Inimel' that he would like to incorporate in his future films, he said, "I am open to learning new things. You very well know how I use music in my films, be it fresh or retro songs. Shruti has enhanced my knowledge of music, she introduced me to genres I didn't know about till then. My playlist has gained about 50-60 songs now, thanks to Shruti. I will definitely carry this experience to my films."

Inimel was released on the official YouTube page of RKFI. The composing and conceptualisation were done by Shruti Haasan while  Kamal Haasan penned the lyrics. The music video is directed by Dwarkesh Prabhakar, while Bhuvan Gowda is its cinematographer and Philomin Raj is the editor.
