Rebel Trailer: GV Prakash leads the struggle to bring justice for Tamils

The makers of GV Prakash's upcoming film Rebel have unveiled the trailer of the film. The film, also starring Mamitha Baiju, is helmed by first-time filmmaker Nikesh RS.

The almost two-minute-long trailer opens in a college in Kerala where GV Prakash introduces himself as Kadhir who comes from Munnar. Kadhir is smitten by Mamitha Baiju's character in the film. During a crucial moment, riots break out in the college between Tamilians and Malayalis, with politicians joining in the clash, leveraging the situation in their advantage to gather votes. The ensuing violence that follows leads to bloodshed, injuries and even death. Kadhir becomes the face and the leader leading the rebel to bring justice to his community.

In an earlier conversation with CE, director Nikesh said, "I was brought up in Kerala's Munnar. It is a period film which will showcase the life of people in the town. The film will centre around students who study there and how they are affected by the politics unfolding in the institution."

"Rebel would be a film for Tamil people. This is an important story that needs to be told and holds relevance for years to come," added Nikesh.

Rebel also stars Karunaas, Subramania Siva, Shalu Rahim, Venkatesh V.P., Aaditya Bhaskar, Kalloori Vinoth and Aathira, among others.

Rebel's technical crew comprises Arun Radhakrishnan (cinematographer) and Vetre Krishnan (editor). The film has cleared censorship formalities with a U/A certificate.

Rebel is gearing up to hit theatres on March 22.
