The Malayalam survival thriller Manjummel Boys is getting heaps of praise from all corners. Earlier, Kamal Haasan met the cast and crew of the film at his office in Chennai and said that he liked the film, and Guna director Santhana Bharathi echoed similar sentiments. The latest filmmaker to join the fan club of Manjummel Boys is Venkat Prabhu. The Greatest of All Time director was all praise for Chidambaram's survival thriller at an event related to the promotion for the Urvashi-starrer J Baby. Venkat said, “Everyone is celebrating Manjummel Boys. At a time when hero-heroine films work well, it is commendable to see a film with no heroine but only a bunch of boys working better than our films in Tamil Nadu. This proves that language is not a barrier and that art is more important.”

Manjummel Boys is a survival film based on a real-life story about a group of friends who go to the cave from Kamal Haasan-starrer Guna on vacation. Its references to the 'Kanmani' song from Guna have been well met among the audience and film fraternity. The film became the fastest in Malayalam to gross 100 crores worldwide and the first in the language to cross 10 crores in Tamil Nadu. It stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Ganapathy, Jean Paul Lal, Balu Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Arun Kurian, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Chandu Salimkumar, Vishnu Raghu, and Khalid Rahman.
