Actor-politician Vijay, who will celebrate his 50th birthday tomorrow, has issued a direction to his party, Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam's (TVK) cadre, to refrain from holding special events.

A day after asking after those who are being treated for consuming hooch in Kallakurichi, Vijay has instructed his fans and cadre to ensure help reaches the families of the deceased and those who are being admitted to the hospital for treatment.

For the unversed, tragedy struck in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi as close to 50 people died consuming spurious liquor sold illicitly in the district's Karunapuram on June 19. Cutting across party lines, several leaders have registered their condemnation against the ruling TN government over alleged law and order failure. Vijay too condemned the government for its 'negligence.'

On the work front, Vijay is gearing up for the release of Venkat Prabhu's sci-fi action Greatest Of All Time, or GOAT. With Meenakshi Chaudhary playing the female lead, the ensemble cast of the film also includes industry heavyweights like Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Laila, Prabhudheva, Mohan, and Jayaram. Venkat Prabhu regulars like Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajai Raj, and Aravind Akash are also part of the cast. The late actor and politician Vijayakanth will be making his appearance in the film in an AI format.

GOAT has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, art direction by Rajeevan, and stunt direction by Dileep Subbarayan. Archana Kalpathi has produced the film under the AGS Entertainment banner.

The plot details of GOAT are currently kept under wraps. GOAT is scheduled to hit theatres on September 5 this year.

Vijay's 69th film, which will be his swansong before foraying into electoral politics, is speculated to be helmed by H Vinoth, despite no official confirmation about the report having been made yet.
