Vijay's Pokkiri gets a new teaser ahead of re-release

As actor Vijay's fans get ready to celebrate their matinee idol's 50th birthday on June 22, The actor's Pokkiri and Thuppakki are getting re-released on June 21.

Ahead of Pokkiri's re-release, the film's new teaser cut has been released. The under-one-minute glimpse had a fast cut between one action sequence and another.

The 2007 action film turned out to be a huge hit of the year and one of the most successful films in Vijay's filmography.

The 2007 action film, a remake of Mahesh Babu's Telugu film of the same name, follows a thug Tamil (Vijay), who is above gang affiliations, murders, or kidnaps at the behest of any gang, provided they pay him well. However, when he infiltrates the gang of Alibhai (Prakash Raj), we learn that he is a cop under cover with a purpose behind all the countless murders he has committed. With his cover blown, will he still be able to accomplish what he has taken up? That is what the film is about.

The film stars Vijay and Asin in the lead , with Nasser, Sriman, Vincent Asokan, Anand Raj, and Prakash Raj cast in prominent roles.

An interesting piece of trivia about Pokkiri is that the film was screened for 100 days when it was re-released in a "shifting process" in theatres, where the latest film did not get the expected footfall and no other new film could be replaced.
