OTT platform Aha Tamil took to their social media handles to announce that the latest film Kurangu Pedal will be available for streaming from June 14. The film, directed by Kamalakannan, is produced by Sivakarthikeyan under his Sivakarthikeyan Productions banner.
Set in the summer of the 1980s in Salem's Katheri village, the film delves into the bond between a son, who is determined to learn how to ride a cycle, and his father. The protagonists of this film are a group of young boys in a village, who want to make the best use of their summer holidays. They all aspire to learn to ride a bicycle.
Kurangu Pedal is inspired by the short story Cycle written by Rasi Azhagappan. Santhosh Velumurugan, VR Ragavan, M Gnanasekar, Rathish, and Sai Ganesh play pivotal roles in Kurangu Pedal. While Kaali Venkat plays the father, Prasanna Balachander and Jenson Diwakar from the famous YouTube channel Nakkalites are also part of the cast.
The film, which was released on May 3, received positive reviews upon release. Our CE review of the film read, "Kurangu Pedal is one of those rare self-aware films that knows too well what its strengths are despite its predictable storyline. The film might look like it is written for kids but is also for adults who are grappling to care for their inner child."
On the technical crew, Kurangu Pedal has music by Ghibran Vaibodha, cinematography by Sumee Baskaran, editing by Shivanandeeswaran, and sound design by Antony BJ Ruban.
