Earlier, we had reported that Scriptwriter Bhaskar Sakthi is set to make his directorial debut with Vadakkan. The makers of the film, Discovery Cinemas, have now announced that the film's title has been changed to Rail.
In an official press note, M Vediyappan of Discovery Cinemas said, "As the Censor Board has prohibited us from using the title 'Vadakkan', we have now titled the film 'Rail'."
Rail features a bunch of newcomers in the lead roles, including Kunguma Raj and Vairamala. Others on the cast include Ramesh Vaidya, Parvez Mehru, Shamira, Kodchadaisendhil, Vairam Patti, Pindu, and Vandana. The earlier released teaser showed that the film would revolve around the clash between a north Indian migrant worker and a local Tamilian.
It is to be noted that Shakthi Bhaskar has previously written dialogues for films like Em Magan, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Naan Mahaan Alla, and Pandiya Naadu. He has also been the scriptwriter for Azhagarasamiyin Kuthirai.
The film's technical crew comprises music composer SJ Janani, cinematographer Theni Easwar and editor Nagooran. While the film was earlier slated to hit theatres on May 24, the makers have now said that a new release date will be announced soon.
