On Wednesday, the makers of Prashanth's Andhagan announced that the film will hit theatres earlier than scheduled. While it was initially slated to release on August 15, the film will not be out a week earlier, on August 9.
The murder mystery, which was long in the making, is directed by Prashanth's father and veteran actor-director Thiagarajan. Andhagan is the official Tamil remake of Sriram Raghavan's 2018 film Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte in lead roles.
The ensemble cast of Andhagan also stars Karthik, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Oorvasi, KS Ravikumar, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Leela Samson, Poovaiyar, Besant Ravi and Mohan Vaithiya, among others. Late actor Manobala also plays the role of police official in the film.
On the technical team, the film has music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Ravi Yadav and editing by Sathish Suriya. The film is bankrolled by Staar Movies.
It is to be noted that Andhadhun was remade in Telugu as Maestro (2021) starring Nithiin, Tamannaah, and Nabha Natesh, and in Malayalam as Bhramam (2021), with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the lead.
Andhagan will be releasing alongside Halitha Shameem's Minmini on August 9.
