Coming heavily against charges of misusing funds of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) while he was the president, actor Vishal responded, saying every expenditure made by the council was a "collective decision."
In his heavily worded, long statement on his X handle, the actor said the funds were used for the welfare work of the old/struggling members of the council. He added that the funds were used for providing education, medical insurance, and basic welfare activities during festivals.
The current dispensation of TFPC, led by N Ramasamy, claimed in an official press note that the 'special auditor' appointed by the 'special officer' in 2019 discovered irregularities in the council's expenditures when Vishal was its president from 2017–19. They charged Vishal with incurring a loss of Rs 12 crore for the producers body during his tenure.
Actor Vishal urged the council to instead focus on issues harming the industry, like "double taxation and theatre maintenance charges." Daring the producers to stop him from acting in films, he added that those who prevent him from doing films "will never produce films."
Vishal was last seen in director Hari's action film Rathnam.
