Sardar 2 stuntman death: Cameras not to roll tomorrow in Chennai

The governing body for workers involved in films, Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), has declared a "No Shoot Day" in Chennai tomorrow.

This development comes in the wake of an accident that happened on July 16 in the shoot of Sardar 2, where a stuntman, Elumalai, died falling from a 20-foot-high rostrum. Condolences poured in for Elumalai, and actor Karthi personally paid his respects.

FEFSI is expected to conduct a meeting tomorrow (July 25) to discuss about the measures undertaken during action sequences and what more could be done on the safety front. Reportedly, except for a few production houses, several others fail to make proper safety arrangements, like stationing an ambulance and having a medical team ready in case of an emergency. Some sources close to FEFSI even say the very basic safety gear for the stuntmen were not being provided.

In addition to safety measures, FEFSI is also likely to discuss the salaries of the actors and the spike in production cost.

Not just film shoots; TV serial shoots too will remain suspended tomorrow.
