The makers of Raayan, written and directed by Dhanush and starring him in his 50th film as an actor, released the first official trailer for the film a while ago. The trailer starts with Dhanush's actor brother, Selvaraghavan's character telling a young Raayan, "The most dangerous animal in the jungle is not the lion or tiger but rather the wolf." Judging by the trailer, Raayan is an action-packed revenge saga that features Dhanush as a gangster who locks horns with SJ Suryah's character. There is a part in the trailer where SJ Suryah says, seemingly referring to Dhanush's character, "He is such a masculine and brave guy; tell him to come here and kill me." The trailer ends with a line from the song 'Adangaatha Asuran,' sung by AR Rahman.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner, Raayan marks Dhanush's comeback as a writer-director after 2017's Pa Paandi. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Saravanan.
The film has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Om Prakash, choreography by Prabhudeva and Bada Baskar, editing by Prasanna, and stunts by Peter Hein.
Raayan is slated for a July 26 release in theatres worldwide.
