Thangalaan, starring Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith, is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Trailer of the film was released by the makers on Wednesday.
The video shows Vikram as the leader of a group of natives who are forced by the British to work in the Kolar Gold Fields. The trailer suggests that the workers discover gold by chance and claim a stake of what is derived from their toil. Mystical elements, in the form of Malavika Mohanan, are also on offer. Some breathtaking stunt sequences too were shown in the glimpse video.
Thangalaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan in key roles. The film's cast also includes Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in the early 1900s, Thangalaan is a historical adventure that narrates the erased role of oppressed communities in the exploration of gold in the South of India.
Studio Green and Neelam Productions are backing Thangalaan. The film has music by GV Prakash, marking his first collaboration with the filmmaker. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer, while Selva RK and SS Murthi will handle the editing and art departments, respectively.
Thangalaan is set to be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
