Vishal denies political entry; says he will continue people welfare activities

Ever since Vijay announced his entry into politics, with his party's name Tamillaga Vettri Kazhagam, speculations have been rife that actor Vishal is also set to announce his political entry. In fact, many reports suggested that he will be making his announcement on Wednesday. Contrastingly, Vishal has penned a note denying his political entry.

In a long note in Tamil, the actor wrote, "I am forever indebted to the people of Tamil Nadu who gave me status and recognition as one of you, as an actor and social worker. From the beginning, I wanted my fan club to benefit people instead of just being an average fan club so that I could help as much as possible. With this goal in mind, we implemented these clubs as a charity movement, to do our best for those who don't have."

He went on to detail the welfare works that his organisation has done on his behalf. "The next step was to create a people's welfare movement for the progress of the people and we worked district-wise, block-wise and branch-wise through the 'Devi Foundation' run in the name of my mother. We are helping many poor and needy students to receive education every year in the name of the late former President Sir Abdul Kalam. We are also helping the affected farmers."

Vishal also said that he personally meets people during shoots and offers his help to those in need. "I have never helped people expecting political support from them in return. As Thiruvalluvar said, "Nanri Marapadhu Nanrandru", I will continue to do my best to help people as I consider it my duty."

He completed the note by saying, "I will continue to do the people's work that I am currently doing through the People's Welfare Movement. If nature makes any other decision in the coming period then I will not hesitate to speak for the people as one of the people."

Last seen in Mark Antony, Vishal is currently working on his 34th film, Rathnam, helmed by director Hari. He also has Thupparivaalan 2 in the pipeline.
