The makers of Shanmuga Pandian Vijayakant's next Padai Thalaivan dropped the film's trailer on Friday.

The glimpse, apart from the Shanmuga Pandian's character getting into trouble because of his elephant and him getting defensive about it, doesn't give away too much about the film's plot. The trailer was also high on nostalgia as it contained an old song of Vijayakant and teased with the late actor-politician's AI look. The film is expected to revolve around themes like trust, where Shanmuga Pandian, as a tribute to his father, in the trailer says, "If my father was here now, he would ask me to protect the people who trusted me."

The film is directed by U Anbu, who has previously made films Walter (2020) and Rekhla (2022). Padai Thalaivan is billed to be an out-and-out action thriller made in the backdrop of forests.

Apart from Shanmuga Pandian, the cast also features director and actor Kasthuri Raja, Yamini Chander, the granddaughter of veteran filmmaker AC Tirulokchander, Munishkanth, and Rishi Rithvik.

With music by Ilaiyaraaja, Padai Thalaivan has a screenplay and dialogues by director Parthiban Desingu. The technical team consists of cinematographer SR Sathish Kumar, editor S Elayaraja, and stunt choreography by Mahesh Mathew. A release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
