Kushboo Sundar expressed her views about the ongoing discourse around women's safety in light of the sexual misconduct and assault-related revelations that came up through the Hema Committee Report. Taking to Instagram, Kushboo wrote, "This moment of Me Too prevailing in our industry breaks you. Kudos to the women who have stood their ground and emerged victorious. The Hema Committee was much needed to break the abuse. But will it?"

Opining further about the prevalence and the unfair treatment towards women in cinema and elsewhere,  Kushboo wrote, "Why is a woman alone expected to go through the grind? Although men too face it, it's marginally women who bear the brunt."

Kushboo also shared that she talked to her daughters about "this issue" and said that she "was amazed at their empathy and understanding towards the victims." She also encouraged a culture where victims can come out without having to fear the consequences. "It doesn’t matter whether you speak today or tomorrow, just speak. Speaking up immediately would help in healing and investigating more effectively," the actor-politician wrote.

The Hema Committee Report came to light recently, years after the committee was formed to investigate women's safety in Malayalam cinema.
