The video of 'Nee Irukkum' from Pari Elavazhagan's Jama was released by the makers on Friday.
'Nee Irukkum' is composed and written by Ilaiyaraaja and sung by Raja Ganapathy and Srisha Vijayasekar.
Pari Elavazhagan, who debuted as a filmmaker with this film, has previously acted in movies like Yaanum Theeyavan (2017), Chennai Palani Mars (2019), and J Baby.
Jama revolves around Kalyanam (Pari) who is denied leadership roles in his drama troupe as he dons female roles. His pursuit in winning over his teacher Tandavam (Chetan) and reclaiming what his father once lost forms the story.
The film also stars Chetan, Ammu Abhirami, Srikrishna Dayal, KVN Manimegalai, Kaala Kumar, Vasanth Marimuthu, and Siva Maran, among others.
Upon release on August 2, the film garnered mixed to positive reaction from audience as well as critics. Our CE review of the film read, "Pari Elavazhagan’s debut directorial is a wonderful ode to Therukoothu. And its authenticity is brought forth in every way possible—right from the songs, makeup, and props to the staging. However, even as they are seamlessly integrated into the screenplay, the narrative suffers from heavy exposition that overstays its welcome."
On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Gopal Krishna, editing by Partha MA, and art direction by Srikanth Gopal. Learn and Teach Production, which has previously backed Koozhangal, has bankrolled this film.
