Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan, starring Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Pasupathy, among others, is having a successful opening weekend at the box office. The film earned a total of Rs 53.64 crore at the global box office during its first two days.
During an event in Hyderabad celebrating the success of the film, Vikram confirmed that he and Pa Ranjith are in the process of discussing a sequel to Thangalaan. This is expected to materialise after Vikram and Ranjith's current commitments get over, such as Vikram's Veera Dheera Sooran and Ranjith's Sarpatta Parambarai 2, starring Arya.
CE's review of Thangalaan read, "Thangalaan is a strangely unaffecting film, even though the ideas are all there—and armed with incredible performances too, especially from Vikram and Parvathy (to the point of being almost distracting). While we are already aware of their general excellence, it’s still incredible to behold how comfortable they are with their physicality in this film."
On the technical team, the film has cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer. Neelam Productions is backing Thangalaan, along with Studio Green.
