Kamal Haasan took to X a while ago to announce that he will not host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil. He has hosted the reality TV program for the last seven years. He attributed the decision to "prior cinematic committments". According to our sources, the actor did it specifically for Thug Life, the sequel to Nag Aswin's Kalki 2898 AD, and the Anbariv directorial.
A part of a note from the actor reads, "I have been privileged to reach you in your homes. You have showered me with your love and affection, for which you have my everlasting gratitude."
In the note, the actor also thanked his Bigg Boss Tamil team at Vijay TV and wished them well for the upcoming season.
Kamal was last seen in Indian 2, the recently released sequel to his 1996 vigilante film with Shankar. Indian 2 is slated to drop on Netflix this Friday. His upcoming film projects include Thug Life, which reunites him with Mani Ratnam after 1987's Nayakan, and the Kalki sequel. The Nag Aswin directorial, released earlier this year, ends with the potential for a sequel featuring Kamal's villaneous Supreme Yaskin character in a more prominent role. He also plays a small role in Manorathangal, the anthology series based on MT Vasudevan Nair's short stories that is slated for an August 15 release on ZEE5 with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
