The trailer for Kurangu Pedal, the upcoming film starring Kaali Venkat in the lead roles, was unveiled by the makers on Monday. The film, backed by Sivakarthikeyan under his Sivakarthikeyan Productions banner, is slated to hit theatres this Friday. 

Set in the summer of the 1980s in Salem's Katheri village, the film will delve into the bond between a son, who is determined to learn how to ride a cycle, and his father. The protagonists of this film are a group of young boys in a village, who want to make the best use of their summer holidays. They all aspire to learn to ride a bicycle. Kaali Venkat's son, played by Santhosh Velmurugan, goes one step forward and rents a cycle to learn cycling. 

It is to be noted that Kurangu Pedal is one of the three Tamil films selected for the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India. The film is helmed by Kamalakannan, who has previously helmed films like Madhubaanakadai (2012) and Vattam (2022).

Touted to be a feel-good drama, Kurangu Pedal is inspired by the short story Cycle written by Rasi Azhagappan. VR Raghavan, M Gnanasekar, Rathish, and Sai Ganesh round out the lead cast of Kurangu Pedal which also stars Prasanna Balachander and Jenson Diwakar of Nakkalites-fame. 

The film has music by Ghibran Vaibodha, cinematography by Sumee Baskaran, editing by Shivanandeeswaran, and sound design by Antony BJ Ruban.

Kurangu Pedal hits theatres alongside films like Aranmanai 4, The Proof and Akkaran.
