Director Hari reveals he was an earlybird to the 'Cinematic Universe' concept

Tamil cinema director Hari who is on a promotion-spree of his upcoming action film Rathnam, starring Vishal, told how keen he was on introducing the concept of cinematic universe, which is in vogue now, back in 2013 itself.

In an interview to a YouTube channel, the director said he wanted to create a cop universe by bringing Aarusamy (Vikram in Saamy) in the Singam franchise starring Suriya. But he added that it couldn't be materialised due to several reasons. He wished if things had went according to his plans it would have a been in blast in theatres.

Hari about Vishal's character in Rathnam said he has shown the actor as a calculated person who doesn't lose it easily in Thamirabarani (2007) and Poojai (2014) but in this film he plays a short-tempered person who stops wrongdoings unmindful of the consequences.

The film directed by Hari, will be produced by Kaarthekeyan Santhanam, Alankar Pandian and Karthik Subbaraj under the banners of Zee Studios, Stone Bench Films and Invenio Origin. Priya Bhavani Shankar has started becoming a regular in Hari's films, after Yaanai, playing the female lead in Rathnam. Samuthirakani, Ramachandra Raju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Yogi Babu, Murali Sharma and Mohan Raman are part of the ensemble cast.

The technical crew has cinematographer M Sukumar, editor TS Jay and music director Devi Sri Prasad on board.

Rathnam is slated to be released on April 26.
