Team Amaran remembers late Major Mukund Varadarajan on his birth anniversary

As a mark of respect for late Indian army officer and Ashoka Chakra recipient Major Mukund Varadarajan, Amaran's lead Sivakarthikeyan and director Rajkumar Periasamy paid rich tributes to the officer on his birth anniversary.

Rajkumar Periasamy took to his X handle and wrote, "Can't wait to unveil the journey of this brave, selfless soldier #MajorMukundVaradarajan sir! Reminiscing the extraordinary life of this #Amaran on his birthday!!!"

Actor Sivakarthikeyan in his tribute wrote, "On the ocassion of 'the AMARAN' Major Mukund Varadarajan's birthday, I extend my heartfelt salute to his bravery and sacrifice. It fills me with immense pride and honor to embody his character on screen."

The late army officer was also remembered by journalist and author Shiv Aroor, on whose book series - India's Most Fearless - the screenplay of Amaran is adapted from.

Amaran will be a biopic where Sivakarthikeyan will essay the role of real-life officer Major Mukund Varadarajan who was a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his act of bravery during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sai Pallavi plays the female lead in the film bankrolled by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International and co-produced by Sony Pictures. GV Prakash is teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time. Also, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan and stunt director Stefan Richter are on board.
