Samuthirakani-starrer Thiru Manickam first look out

The first look poster of Thiru Manickam, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor-director Samuthirakani in the lead role, was released by Vijay Sethupathi, on social media on Wednesday. The film is directed by Nanda Periyasamy, who has earlier helmed Anandham Vilayadum Veedu.

The poster shows Samuthirakani wearing a shirt and dhoti, against the backdrop of what looks like a temple street. He is sporting a stern look and looks like the film will talk about a common man's tale.

With the shooting in progress, the technical crew of the film consists of M Sukumar as the cinematographer and Vishal Chandrasekar scoring the music. SP Raja Sethupathi is the editor. Thiru Manikkam is backed by GP Ravi Kumar, Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy and Raja Senthil.

Speaking to CE, the director of the film said about the film, “It is a film set against the backdrop of Papanasam and revolves around a man who is getting chased by everyone for doing good, yet he overcomes opposition. It can be called a society drama and highlights the difference between surviving and living. Among everyone who is trying to survive, this man wants to live. In short, the film is how Manikkam becomes Thiru Manikkam.” He also added that the upcoming film is based on true incident.

The film is currently in the last stage of shooting in Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. Apart from Samuthirakani, the film also stars Bharathiraja, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Chaams, Vadivukarasi, Ilavarasu, among others. The director said that the team is planning to release in a couple of months.
