Karthik Subbaraj concocts a "Pandyaa Western" in Jigarthanda Double X teaser 

The teaser of Jigarthanda sequel, titled Jigarthanda Double X, was released by the makers on social media on Monday. The film starring SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence in the lead roles, is a sequel to the 2013 film, which starred Siddharth and Bobby Simha.

The teaser of the sequel also seems to be set in the same template of the first film, one involving a gangster and filmmaker. The teaser reveals that the film is set in 1975 where SJ Suryah is introduced as a filmmaker. We are shown intercuts of action sequences between the words “roll camera, sound, and action". In the meanwhile, Ragahava is introduced as a notorious gangster. There is also a jibe taken at pan-India phenomena with a “Pandyaa Western”.

The shooting of Jigarthanda Double X was wrapped in the first week of July and the film hit the screens on Deepavali 2023. The film is helmed by Karthik Subbaraj, who directed the first part as well.

Jigarthanda Double X's technical crew includes music composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer S S Thirunavukarasu, who collaborated with Karthik Subbaraj in Mercury and Petta, and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali.

The film is backed by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan under the Stone Bench Films & Five Star Creations banners.
