Despite his transition over years, his smile was always constant: KS Ravikumar on Sarath Babu

Veteran actor Sarath Babu died on Monday afternoon after being hospitalised for the last few weeks. While the actor left a remarkable legacy behind him, in form of his filmography in Tamil and Telugu films, the film fraternity mourned his demise.

Director KS Ravikumar who made Muthu starring Rajinikanth and Sarath Babu, recollected the days he worked with the late actor. Speaking to CE, he said, “He was someone who had a pleasant personality and I still recall him for his charming appearance. He had really good features, which helped him to translate his acting into effortless performance onscreen.”

He also added, “At the same time, he was large-hearted and had childlike character. In fact, I have never seen him sad or angry. Probably the only time I have seen him angry is during the shot. I had met him in a function about one year back. Despite his age and transition over years, his smile was something that was constant. It’s sad that such a personality passed away.”

Sarath Babu suffered from multi-organ damage and had been taking treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Sarath Babu, who made his debut in a Telugu film, Rama Rajyam, in 1973, became famous for his work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films. Sarath Babu has bagged Nandi awards three times for best acting in supporting roles.
