Aishwarya Rajesh-GV Prakash Kumar film titled Dear 

We had earlier reported that Aishwarya Rajesh and GV Prakash Kumar will be starring together for the first time in a romcom. The makers have now announced that the film's title as Dear, along with the motion poster of the film.

The motion poster shows Aishwarya as Deepika and GV Prakash as Arjun, sleeping vertically on either side of the bed. Aishwarya seems snoring much to the chagrin of the other person.

Speaking to Cinema Express, filmmaker Anand Ravichandran who earlier directed Sethum Aayiram Pon, says, “It is a family drama revolving around a husband and wife. It deals with a particular conflict that has happened in my house as well and the film tells how this particular family deals with it. It is a very middle-class issue and if I want to put it exactly, it will be more of Ayushmann Khurrana genre. It is a couple's story and starts off with the wedding and ends touching upon what it takes to have a long-lasting marriage.”

On casting Aishwarya and GV Prakash who will be working together for the first time, the director said that both of them have become household names and at the same time known for doing interesting characters in the past. “They have boy/girl-next-door image and they can slip into relatable people we would have seen,” he added.

Anand, who has written the film as well, conceived the idea during the lockdown. The film stars Thalaivasal Vijay, Rohini, Kaali Venkat, and Nandhini (of Blacksheep channel fame) as GV Prakash’s side of the family, while actors Ilavarasu, and Geeta Kailasam play Aishwarya's family members. 

The film, produced by Varun Tripuaneni, Abhishek Ramisetty and G Pruthviraj, went on floors in December, with the talkie portions completed. The makers have still have a few songs to be shot. Dear was shot in Kunnur and Chennai. The film has music by GV Prakash, cinematography by Jagadeesh Sundaramurthy and editing by Rukesh. “We have used sync sound which is done by Raghav Ramesh, with costumes by Anusha. The film has seven tracks and it plays an important part of the story.”

The makers are looking for a theatrical release sometime in July.
