Suhasini: Vanthiyathevan and Kundhavai meeting in PS II is my favourite romantic scene

Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan II will hit the theatres on April 28. Ahead of the release, the filmmaker's wife Suhasini spilt a few beans about the film.

Speaking to a media outlet, she said, "Usually when a film is about kings and kingdoms, only themes like revenge, treachery and war. But the second part of PS II will reflect on the humanity and magnanimity of the lineage." Stating that Nayakan is one of her favourite Mani Ratnam films, she said that it is a great epic created by her husband along with her "Chithappa" (Kamal Haasan).

"In Ponniyin Selvan II, there's a scene where Karthi's Vanthiyathevan and Trisha's Kundhavai meet each other. It is very well made. It is my most in the Ponniyin Selvan II is her most favourite romantic scene. "There's a scene where they both meet each other. That's my favourite romantic scene in Mani Ratnam films."

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the first part of the film was received very well and minted big at the box office. The epic period film also features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban.

The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel, is adapted by Mani Ratnam, along with Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan. Produced under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners, Ponniyin Selvan was shot by Ravi Varman. The technical crew includes editor A Sreekar Prasad and production designer Thota Tharani.
