Dalit leader and MP Thol Thirumavalavan lauds Maamannan

Member of Parliament and Dalit leader Thol Thirumavalavan has lauded Mari Selvaraj's new political drama Maamannan through a Twitter post, which read, "Director Mari Selvaraj's Maamannan is an artwork that describes the harsh contrasts between social justice and casteism. Caste is not only an ideology; it is also entrenched as a culture. Leave alone abolishing it, relaxing it is an uphill battle. Mamannan describes such a bloody battlefield."

Thirumavalavan also added that the screen language of the film speaks about social justice in the loudest way possible.

Responding to the positive words of Thirumavalvan, Mari wrote, "Our thanks to the brother Thirumavalavan, who has highly praised our Maamannan with great love and understanding from his heart."

Maamannan, starring Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi and Keerthy Suresh, was released in theatres yesterday and the film, which has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Theni Eswar, has opened to majorly positive responses.
