The trailer of Zee5's upcoming series, Ayali, is out now. This Tamil original, directed by Muthukumar, is backed by S Kushmavathi's Estrella Stories.

Featuring Abi Nakshatra and Anumol as the primary protagonists, Ayali, also features Aruvi Madhan, Lingaa, Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, and Singampuli in prominent roles. The eight-episode series will stream on ZEE5 from January 26.

The trailer strongly hints at Ayali being a poignant social drama surrounding a young girl, Tamil Selvi, who harbours dreams of becoming a doctor. However, she is bound by the village customs that dictate young girls, who hit puberty, to be married off to avoid incurring the wrath of Goddess Ayali. We see how the young girl and her near and dear ones fight against the system to fulfill her dream and pave the way for other girls of her village of Veerappannai to dare to dream.

Here's the trailer:

"This series is a coming-of-age tale surrounding women education and empowerment and fighting against all odds to achieve one's dreams and aspirations. We are grateful to ZEE5 for giving us their platform to showcase this need-of-the-hour story," said director Muthukumar.

Ayali also has an interesting set of actors, including Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli, Smruthi Venkat and Bagavathy Perumal, appearing in cameos.

With music by Revaa, cinematography by Ramji, and editing by Ganesh Siva, Ayali is written by Veenai Maindhan, Sachin, and Muthu Kumar.
