Kamal Haasan condoles the demise of comedian Mayilsamy

Following the demise of veteran comedian Mayilsamy, actor Kamal Haasan conveyed his condolences. Taking to his social media handle, he wrote that Mayilsamy found his own unique style of presenting comedy. He also added that many thought the comedian to be a helping hand in their lives, and extended a tribute to his friend. 

Mayilsamy was 57 and passed away on Sunday morning, after suffering from a cardiac arrest. He first starred alongside Kamal Haasan in Aboorva Sagodharargal (1989). The two have acted in many other films together, including Vetri Vizha (1989), Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990), and Aalavandhan (2001), to name a few. 

It is to be noted that Mayilsamy has acted with all leading stars in the Tamil film industry. He first performed with Rajinikanth in Panakkaran (1990), after which he went on to do many films with the actor. Mayilsamy had a career spanning 39 years and 200 odd films. The comedian debuted in the film industry with Bhagyaraj's Dhavani Kanavugal in 1984. 

Mayilsamy became a household name amongst Tamil audiences after 2000. His notable film credits include Dhool, Vaseegara, Ghilli, Giri, Uthamaputhiran, Veeram, and Kanchana, among many others. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian for his performance in Kangalal Kaidhu Sei (2004).
