We had earlier reported that Bharathiraja and Arulnithi are starring in a film that will be backed by Lyca Productions banner. The makers have now released the first look poster and title of the film which is called Thiruvin Kural.

Others part of the cast include Aathmika, Subathra Robert, Ashraf, Jeeva, Mahendran, Harish Somasundaram, Monekha Siva, among others. The first look, which is in sepia tone, showes a smiling Bharathiraja looking at one side, while Arulnithi sports a concerned look.

The upcoming feature is written and directed by debutant Harish Prabhu, who has earlier assisted Arun Kumar and Ranjit Jeyakodi. Thiruvin Kural is 24th venture of Lyca Productions.

Speaking to Cinema Express, Harish said, “This is an emotional family drama between a father and son. Arulnithi plays a deaf and mute character and Bharathiraja plays his father. The story will be an emotional and be about how the family will get entangled in a problem. Prominent portions of the film will take place at a government hospital in Chennai.”

The director revealed that he drew inspiration from the days he spent when his father was admitted to a hospital. “The bond between a father and son is different, but when it is the father on a hospital bed, the emotional equation they share is different. There is mother character in the film. I had written this about two years ago. I was initially supposed to do another film with Vijay Sethupathi sir and Lyca, but since it is a big one, I thought of making another with Arulnithi sir. I am glad we could rope in,” he added.

While Subathra plays Bharathiraja’s daughter, Aathmika plays a cousin. The shooting for the film has been wrapped up in 42 days and was shot in Chennai, Puducherry and Karaikal. The makers are planning to release sometime in March.

The film will mark the first collaboration of actors Bharathiraja and Arulnithi. The makers also announced the technical crew. While Sam CS will be scoring the music, cinematography is by Sinto Poduthas. Ganesh Siva is the editor of the film.
