Ever since the release of Leo, the social media platforms X and Instagram have been filling up with opinions and theories about the various aspects of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial.
Along with all these comments, a scene from Jagapathi Babu's Gaayam 2 has also been making rounds.
The video shows Jagapathi Babu as the owner of a coffee shop. The scene is similar to the one in Leo, where Vijay's Parthiban is attacked by Sandy and Mysskin's gang, and he shoots them all down, perfectly, in defence. Of course, both scenes look similar. Why wouldn't it be considering the source material for both is David Cronenberg's A History of Violence. But there is one thing that is different between the Vijay starrer and the Praveen Sri directorial.
While Leo is an official adaptation of A History of Violence, Gaayam 2 is an unofficial adaptation, also called a "freemake" of the 2005 classic. It is to be noted that A History of Violence itself is based on an eponymous graphic novel.
Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo houses an ensemble cast including Vijay, Trisha, Gautam Menon, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Mathew Thomas, Mysskin, Sandy, and Priya Anand among others. The film marks the director's second collaboration with Vijay after the 2021 film Master.
