Karthi celebrates one year of Sardar, teases second part

Karthi, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Japan directed by Raju Murugan, took to Twitter to celebrate one year of the release of Sardar, directed by PS Mithran and confirmed that the second part is on track.

He took to his X handle to share a video of the audience's reaction to the film along with a few glimpses from the film and wrote, "One year of Blockbuster Sardar. Thank you my dear fans and audience for this great milestone. #Sardar2 loading soon."    

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar is an action-packed spy-thriller that has Karthi in a dual role, as a publicity-hungry cop and a spy in exile. Laila, Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, and Chunky Panday essay other major roles in the film. Hitting screens on October 21, 2022, the film opened to largely positive response and was declared a blockbuster.

Karthi was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan II  (2022), directed by Mani Ratnam, as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan. The magnum opus film starred an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Jayaram, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, R. Parthiban, Rahman, Lal and Vikram Prabhu.

His upcoming film Japan stars KS Ravikumar,  Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, and cinematographer-filmmaker Vijay Milton in pivotal roles. The teaser which was released recently, showcased Karthi in the titular role of Japan who, in the film, has successfully executed a heist of Rs 200 crores by creating a hole in the wall of a popular jewellery store.

Karthi's Japan and Sj Suryah-Raghava Lawrence's Jigarthanda Double X are clashing at the theatres for Diwali this year.
