Popular TV anchor and actor Rakshan, who made a mark in the Dulquer Salmaan-fronted Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, has joined the cast of Rajinikanth's upcoming biggie Thalaivar 170.
The anchor-turned-actor confirmed the same via his Instagram handle. Rakshan shared pictures of the pooja ceremony that happened at Thiruvananthapuram where he was seen standing next to Rajinikanth and wrote, "YES, IT’S TRUE. Extremely blessed and grateful to be a part of Thalaivar 170."
Actor Dulquer Salmaan commented under his post, "So so proud Macha," while comedian and actor Pugazh wrote, "Mama Romba happy kadavula nerla pathuta Vazhthukal." VJ and actor Rio Raj too congratulated him.
After a gap of three years, Rakshan had signed his next film Marakkuma Nenjam, directed by Yoagandran. Back in May, the makers had released the first look poster of the film where Rakshan looked like he was playing a school student. Apart from Rakshan, the film also stars Vishaka Dhiman, 'Prankster' Rahul, Dheena, and KPY Rajkumar.
He also has the film Kannivedi, directed by debutant Ganesh Raj in the pipeline where he is starring alongside Keerthy Suresh. The film is backed by Dream Warrior Pictures.
Meanwhile, Lyca Productions, the production house backing Thalaivar 170 shared a poster of Rajinikanth and announced that the film has gone on floors. Further, they also announced that more updates would be unveiled, once the shoot progresses.
So far, the ensemble cast of the Rajinikanth vehicle consists of Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan and Rithika Singh. While the makers have not disclosed details about the entire crew, they announced that Anirudh Ravichander, who was the composer for Jailer, will compose music for this Rajinikanth-starrer as well.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rajinikanth jetted off to Kochi for the film's shoot. While speaking to the press outside the airport, the veteran shared that Thalaivar 170 would be a big commercial movie backed by a message.
