Director Vinay Bharadwaj, who helmed the 2019 Kannada film Mundhina Nildana, is making his Tamil debut with Sila Nodigalil, which is headlined by Richard Rishi, Punnagai Poo Geetha, and Yashika Aanand.

Talking about his choice of casting, Vinay says, "He has played many rooted roles, but he hasn't played a stylish urban role in recent times. He plays cosmetic surgeon Raj Varadhan. Yashika plays a supermodel, and it reflects her real life too. Punnagai Poo Geetha, a Malaysian-based actor who is also the producer of the film was the perfect fit for Richard’s wife Medha."

After making a romantic film for his debut, Vinay has chosen to shift tracks with Sila Nodigalil. "I wrote this story in 2021. I have grown up reading Sidney Sheldon and Agatha Christie novels. Murder mystery and thriller has always fascinated me. And as a filmmaker, I wanted to tell versatile stories. Though it’s a mystery genre there is drama at the core of it and there is music! I don’t think I can make a film without music and drama," shares Vinay adding that this will be a full-fledged Tamil film. "Being based out of Singapore for 18 years now, Tamil is one of the National languages and I am very familiar with the language."

Backed by Esquire Productions UK and Punnagai Poo Geetha, the film is billed to be a mystery drama set in London, and revolving around a married couple. In fact, the entire film was shot in Chelmsford. "The story happens between a husband and wife who are staying abroad in an urban city. London fit the story really well. The villa that I shot in had a character, and the movie is predominantly shot indoors. With movies going on OTT and people across the world consuming it, setting in London gave that international flavor."

With cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan, Sila Nodigalil has five songs, each composed by a different music director, including Masala Coffee, Stacatto, Bjorn Surrao, Darshana KT and Rohit Matt. The background score will be done by Rohit Kulkarni. The makers are currently in the last leg of the post-production and are expecting to release Sila Nodigalil later this year.
