Paruthiveeran row: Gnanavelraja issues a note of clarification

Studio Green's K E Gnanavelraja took to his official X handle on Wednesday, to pen a note on the ongoing Paruthiveeran controversy, and to put an end to the row.

In Tamil, the producer wrote, "The Paruthiveeran case has been going on for 17 years now. I have not spoken about it until very recently. I always refer to the director as 'Ameer Anna'. I have been very close with his family members from the very beginning."

Further, clarifying the remarks he made on the director, he continued, "The false allegations he placed on me in his recent interviews, were very hurting to me. If the words I used to reply to him, hurt him in any way, then I regret it deeply. I have immense respect for the Cinema field which is my bread and butter, and the people who work in it."

For the unversed, the Paruthiveeran controversy revolves around Ameer and his faction alleging that Studio Green's Gnanavelraja refused to fund money for the film, midway, and that he put in the money to complete the film. However, Gnanavelraja is credited as the producer. So, Ameer has filed a case against the producer seeking proper compensation and rights for the film. This case has been going on in court for more than a decade now.

It came back to the limelight after Ameer was not invited to the audio launch of Karthi's 25th film Japan. Further, Gnanavelraja also remarked controversially against the filmmaker, which resulted in people like Samuthirakani, Sasikumar and Sudha Kongara coming in support of the director.
