Anu Emmanuel: My role in Japan is a surprise element

Karthi's 25th film Japan, directed by Raju Murugan is all set to release in theatres on November 10. Ahead of the film's release, Anu Emmanuel, who plays the female lead in the film, revealed details on the heist thriller, her role in the film and more.

Interacting with the media, Anu said, "Japan has a unique story. I have never heard such a story before. As an audience, I am very interested in watching such a movie. Raju Murugan is a very versatile director. Each of his films is different. Karthi, Dream Warrior Pictures, DOP Ravi Varman, and GV Prakash Kumar, have all come together for this film.”

Heaping praise on his co-star Karthi, she shared, "Karthi is an amazing actor and a team player. We used to discuss before doing any scene. Off-screen, Karthi is a great human being. This is Karthi's 25th film, and it’s an honour to work with him. He takes a lot of care and is very supportive."

Noting that no one has done a role like Karthi in Japan, Anu said, " I say this is the perfect film for Diwali. It is a film that provides a great theatre experience. Everyone must watch it in theatres. Japan is so crazy. It gives a new experience to the audience, and they will surely enjoy it.”

When asked about her role, she said wanted to keep it as a surprise for the audience. Without revealing much, she said, “My role in Japan will be a surprise element. I don't want to reveal too much about it right now. My role is crucial in Japan’s life. There is a very interesting track between Karthi and my character. It will definitely entertain everyone.”

Calling Sunil her favourite actor, Anu recalled that she had earlier worked with him earlier on the movie Urvashivo Rakshasivo. "He is a very versatile actor and played an excellent role in Pushpa. His role is very good in Japan too," she added.

Backed by Dream Warrior Pictures, Japan marks the second collaboration between director Raju Murugan and Dream Warrior Pictures after Joker. 

Apart from Karthi and Anu Emmanuel, Japan also stars KS Ravikumar, Sunil, and cinematographer-filmmaker Vijay Milton in pivotal roles, among others.

The technical team of the film comprises cinematographer Ravi Varman and Philomin Raj. The film is produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner.
