The Whale – SonyLIV (March 16)

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, The Whale won two Academy Awards, including Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Actor for Brendon Fraser recently. The Whale is based on Samuel D Hunter’s play, and he also penned the script. Bankrolled by A24, The Whale revolves around a reclusive English teacher Charlie, played by Brendon, who lives with severe obesity. Besides Brendon, the film also stars Hong Chau, Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, Hong Chau, Samantha Morton, and Sathya Sridharan.

Vaathi/Sir  - Netflix (March 17)

Vaathi is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, directed by Venky Atluri. The film is a period social drama, which is set in the 90s. In the film, Dhanush plays a junior professor on a mission to correct the educational system corrupted by the privatisation of institutions. Besides Dhanush, the film also features Samyuktha, Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Thotapalli Madhu, Aadukalam Naren, Ken Karunas, and Ilavarasu.

Writer Padmabhushan – Zee5 (March 17)

Telugu dramady Writer Padmabhushan tells the story of an aspiring writer whose life turns upside down when an anonymous person publishes a successful novel in Padmabhushan's name. The film follows his ordeals to track down the anonymous person and his eventual coming-of-age. The film stars Suhas, Rohini Molleti, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tina Shilparaj, Goparaju Ramana and Gowri Priya in prominent roles.

Pop Kaun? – Disney+ Hotstar (March 17)

Farhad Samji’s upcoming comedy series Pop Kaun? features Kunal Kemmu in the lead, along with Saurabh Shukla, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and the late Satish Kaushik. The series trailer promises a comedy of errors and various hilarious situations.

Gandhadagudi – Prime Video (March 17)

The docu-feature starring late actor Karnataka Ratna Puneeth Rajkumar and award-winning wildlife photographer-filmmaker Amoghavarsha, is written and directed by the latter. It shows the duo embarking on a trip in Karnataka to capture the region's abundant wildlife, scenic beauty, water bodies, and forgotten tales. From thick rainforests to rocky scrublands, to mountains to oceans, the duo also address environmental concerns around plastic use, water conservation and deforestation. The feature gives an interesting insight into Puneeth’s extraordinary lineage, his father, the legendary actor Dr Rajkumar.
