Vetri to join hands with Kishen Das for Eerapadham Kaatru Mazhai
Actor Vetri will be seen next in a psychological drama film directed by debutant Saleem R Baadshah. The film, titled Eerapadham Kaatru Mazhai, will also feature Kishen Das and Deepthie Orintelu playing the other leads
Sharing details on the storyline, Saleem explains, "The film revolves around the life of three people - Sudharshan, Kani Yashoda Nandan and Methini who have a negative arc and their lives have a devastating beginning. The film won't have a traditional three-act format but has an unorthodox structure."
Speaking about the characters, the director says, "Vetri as Sudharshan has an uncontrollable urge to strangle people when he sees their necks. He isolates himself due to this, but he has a dream to explore and experience life. Methini has a mindset that life has no value and doesn't express her emotions. Kishen as Kani does highway robbery for a living and can potentially cause grave harm to others. How these three arcs come together forms the rest of the story."
Noting that the film will be a character-driven story, Saleem elucidates that he wants to convey that judging a person is unnecessary and that only one human can support another. "We have shot in live locations in places in Chennai like Triplicane, Ennore and Kelambakkam. 70 per cent of the shoot is over," he adds.
Apart from Vetri, Kishen Das and Deepthie Orintelu, the film also has writer Bakkiyam Shankar in a prominent role. A few newcomers will also be seen in supporting roles. When enquired about the reason for this specific title, Saleem shares, "Just like how the water cycle results in rain for all, a man's emotions, too undergo several changes in life. The stories and emotions of these three people join together like the rain in the end."
Amal Tomy is the cinematographer of Eerapadham Kaatru Mazhai, while Aashish Joseph handles the editing. The film is backed by IB Karthikeyan under the banner Big Print Pictures.
