Clint Eastwood to watch Jigarthanda Double X after completing Juror 2; Karthik Subbaraj reacts

Last month, the biggest celebration for Tamilians, was undoubtedly Diwali. But for Tamil cinema fans, it was Karthik Subbaraj's comeback to the theatres with Jigarthanda Double X. Starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in the lead, the film was the sequel to Jigarthanda (2014). It performed extremely well at the box office, and also received great critical acclaim, so much so that it was defined as an ode to cinema.

While the film's focus on cinema and the environment were the most appreciated aspects, Jigarthanda Double X also doubled up as a tribute to veteran filmmaker Clint Eastwood. Raghava Lawrence's character Aliyus Caeser was a fan of the director and actor, and a lot of references were made with regards to the filmmaker. 

Recently, an X user took to the platform to tag Clint Eastwood and let him know about the existence of such a tribute. He wrote, "Dear Clint Eastwood, We are Indians. We made a Tamil movie called Jigarthanda Double X. Its available on Netflix. We have given you a great tribute in the whole movie. We made some animated scenes like you in your young age. Please watch it once you get some time."

Replying to the same, the handlers of Clint Eastwood's X account wrote, "Hi. Clint is aware of this Movie and he states he will get to it upon the completion of his New Film. Juror 2. Thank You." 

Having seen this tweet, director Karthik Subbaraj penned a heartfelt note. He wrote, "Wowww..... Feeling So Surreal!! The Legend #ClintEastwood is AWARE of #JigarthandaDoubleX  & gonna watch it soon.. This film is my heartfelt dedication to Clint Eastwood on behalf of Millions of his Fans in India.. Can't wait to hear what he thinks of the film once he does.... Thanks a lot @Vijay70269050 and all #JigarthandaXX fans on twitter who reached out to the man himself & making this happen.... Feeling Blessed." (sic)

Jigarthanda Double X hit theatres on November 10 and was later released on Netflix as well. The film also stars Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Ilavarasu, and Sanjana Natarajan, among others. While Santhosh Narayanan composed the music, Shafique Mohamed Ali handled the editing and Tirru cranked the camera. 

Meanwhile, Clint Eastwood is working on his final film as a director, Juror 2. Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch and Kiefer Sutherland are set to star in the film. Bankrolled by Warner Bros., the film has a script penned by Jonathan Abrams.
