Actor Vijay took to his X handle to pen a note on cyclone Michaung and urged his welfare club members to volunteer and help as much as they can. In a post that he wrote in Tamil, he mentioned that the torrential rains had left several children, women and elderly people suffering. 

He further added, "There is news regularly coming on how thousands of people are in distress without drinking water, food and other basic necessities. There are several posts on social media seeking help to rescue them from flooded areas. In this situation, I urge people of welfare club members to volunteer to help those in need to what extent they can in the rescue missions undertaken by the government." He concluded his note by saying, "Let us join hands to remove grief."

The city of Chennai had faced its worst ever rainfall after the 2015 deluge with cyclone Michaung unleashing its fury, leaving several areas in the city inundated. Several celebrities including singer Chinmayi, actors Shanthanu and Kishen Das, and many others helped amplify requests of calls for help and pitched in with necessitues. Harish Kalyan contributed a sum of rupees one lakh to the Chief Minister Public Relief Fund. Following him, the director of his recent film Parking, Ramkumar Balakrishnan and producer Sinish had donated a sum of two lakh rupees.

Meanwhile, actor Vijay was last seen in the action entertainer Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film which is currently, streaming on Netflix after a successful theatrical run,  also starred actors like Trisha, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Sandy Master, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun.

He is working with director Venkat Prabhu in his upcoming film which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 68. The film which went on floors in the first week of October, also stars actors actors Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakashi Chaudhary, Prabhudheva, Mohan, and Jayaram. Apart from these actors, Thalapathy 68 also has Venkat Prabhu regulars Vaibhav, Premgi, Ajai Raj, and Aravind Akash as part of the cast. 

With music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Thalapathy 68 is set to have cinematography by Siddharth Nuni, art direction by Rajeevan, and stunt direction by Dileep Subbarayan.
