69th National Film Awards:  Kadaisi Vivasayi and Iravin Nizhal represent the Tamil Film Industry

While Tamil cinema did not get to sweep the National Film Awards this year, it nevertheless made its presence felt with one of the best films from the industry. Manikandan's 2021 directorial Kadaisi Vivasayi won the Best Tamil Film award while the actor late Nallandi was awarded the Special Mention for his performance in the film.

It is worth noting that Kadaisi Vivasayi was the first time the late actor performed in a film. While the film was released in 2021, Nallandi passed away due to natural causes in 2023, at the age of 77. On the other hand, actor-director Parthiban's Iravin Nizhal became the only Tamil film to bag a win in a general category. Shreya Ghoshal won the Best Playback Singer award for singing Maayava Chaayava in Iravin Nizahl. This is the fifth National Award for the singer.

After registering his wishes for Shreya Ghoshal and thanking composer AR Rahman for working on the film, Parthiban said, "I waited a long time to work with AR Rahman sir, and the result of that is the massive respect and adulation for Iravin Nizhal. Even after getting 120 International Awards for my film, I was eagerly expecting a National Award, I eagerly awaited our National Film Awards. My film getting recognised and my name being attached to that makes me happy. The reason for that is AR Rahman and Shreya Ghoshal. So I would like to thank them and the several others who worked in the film."
