Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj appreciates Maveeran

After a massive blast at the theatres, Sivakarthikeyan's Maveerean has been gaining a widespread positive reception on its OTT streaming as well. The recent celebrity who showers appreciation for the film is notable director Karthik Subbaraj. Taking to his X account (formerly Twitter), Karthik wrote a brief note heralding Maveeran as a well-written and well-made film. 

Mentioning a dialogue from the film, the Petta- director wrote, "Just saw Maaveeran. A well-written and made fantasy film about the politics of people displacement. The fantasy part was fun & the politics is hard hitting." Karthik also appreciated the film's director, Madonne Ashwin, Sivakarthikeyan, and the whole team behind the film. 

Maaveeran is Madonne Ashwin's sophomore directorial after the much-acclaimed Mandela. Maaveeran, which hit the theatres on July 14, went on to become a commercial as well a critical success. An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "It's a time in our cinema when talented filmmakers like Madonne Ashwin are showing that they are unafraid of punching up. This film asks questions of slum resettlement policies and how they are executed while not losing sight of being an accessible entertainer." 

 Maaveeran also stars Aditi Shankar, Saritha, Mysskin, Yogi Babu, and Sunil. Backed by Shanthi Talkies with cinematography by Vidhu Ayyanna, Maaveeran has music by Bharath Shankar and editing by Philomin Raj.
