The kural talks about how the desire for things that do not belong to you goes on to destroy one’s life. Despite the heavy, moralistic core of the film, the director maintains that the film fundamentally belongs to the comedy genre, which just so happens to be of the darker variety. He assures us that “The dark humour is constructed in a way that could be enjoyed by any section of the audience, we have applied a commercial approach to the way we handled our off-beat humour.”
With Aishwarya Rajesh playing the lead, the ensemble cast also includes National Award winner Lakshmi Priya, Deepa Shankar, Karunakaran, Redin Kingsley, Mime Gopi, Augustin, Sunil Reddy, Bijon, and Thendral.
While talking about the casting decision, the director said, "Despite the ensemble cast, we have made sure that equal importance has been given to all the actors. Even actors who are known for their predominantly comedic roles are cast with their roles and their importance to the story in mind and not just so they can add more comedic scenes to the film."
The title Soppana Sundari is referenced from the popular comedy track by legendary Tamil comedic duo Goundamani-Senthil in the 1989 film Karakattakaran. The cinematography is done by BalaMurugan and Vignesh Rajagopalan while the editing is handled by Sarathkumar. Ravi Pandiyan worked on the film’s art direction. Ajmal and Shivathmika have both worked on the music for the film.
The Soppana Sundari team is yet to release a trailer and confirm the release plans for the film.
