Bigg Boss Tamil 6: Rapper Asal Kolaar is out; audiences hail the weekend Kamal Haasan episodes

After what is widely considered as two of the best weekend episodes ever seen in Bigg Boss Tamil, it was heartbreak time for one of the housemates.

With the preceding week being centred around a doll task and its repercussions, Kamal Haasan, who has been hosting the Tamil version of the reality show ever since its inception, had a lot of explanations to make, actions to be reprimanded, kurumpadams to be shown, and more. With the popular vote swinging in favour of Dhanalakshmi and team, including Shivin and Vikraman, factions were definitely being formed within the house, and we are not complaining for sure!

Sherina and Ayesha too found themselves on the firing line over the two episodes thanks to their behaviour the past week, but none were more in the frontline than Azeem. The popular TV actor, who is now known more for his temper, irrational anger, and unfiltered conversations, was rightfully put in his place by Kamal Haasan, who reminded him about the reason that he was inside the Bigg Boss house. In fact, the weekend episodes achieved cult status because Kamal Haasan and team asked the housemates all the questions that were trending on social media, and the people loved the matinee idol resonating with their own thoughts.

With a few more tasks developed to create a wider rift between the already drifting housemates, the weekend episodes came to a close with the inevitable eviction. Over the past two days, we were seeing how a lot of housemates were being saved because they received a lot more votes, and it all came down to Azeem and Asal Kolaar. And finally, when the swivel chair turned to the camera with Kamal Haasan holding a placard, the writing on that cardboard wall was clear... it was Asal's turn to bid adieu to the sixth season of Bigg Boss Tamil.

Although Asal's stint in the house started on a strong note, especially with his bold way of tackling an important personal issue with Ayesha, his presence in the house became highlighted for altogether different reasons. Be it his brash attitude with housemates like Dhanalakshmi that showcased his inherent misogyny at times, or his growing friendship with Nivaashini that took away the spotlight from both of them as individual housemates, Asal's participation was perceived as just a two-pronged affair. It was either his chemistry with Nivaa, or his unbridled anger against a few others. As fellow rapper, ADK often used to complain about Asal, the real nature of the latter got muddled in a lot of these controversies. In fact, it became a talking point all over social media with Asal being painted in colours that might seem a bit harsh to some, right to some others, and mellow to a few more.

Anyway, as Asal walked out of the house, leaving a bunch of them in never-ending tears, it is clear that all is not what we see in the Bigg Boss house, and the biggest challenge of the reality show is not staying inside for 100 days, or winning all those tasks, or being voted in every week for three months. The biggest challenge of this show is for the housemates to ensure that they walk away with their head held high, and their reputations intact, even if not elevated.

Where does Asal stand in the biggest challenge of them all? Well, it will all be about his self-introspection, and we hope he finds his standing soon enough and continues to regale us with his art.

Asal is the third housemate to be evicted from Bigg Boss Tamil 6 after GP Muthu (walked out), and dancer-choreographer Shanthi.

Meanwhile, on the film front, Kamal is shooting for Indian 2. The film is directed by Shankar and is produced by Lyca Productions. A sequel to the 1996 vigilante action film, Indian 2 will feature a host of actors, including Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, among others.
