An update on Chiyaan 61, the upcoming film starring actor Vikram under Pa Ranjith's directorial is expected to be dropped very soon.

Taking to Twitter, the music composer of the film, GV Prakash tweeted on Saturday, "Update very very soon. going to be a killer ride. musically a very interesting project to work on. exciting times ahead."

The yet-to-be titled film marks the maiden collaboration between Pa Ranjith and Vikram. The film is expected to be a period drama set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields. However, the makers clarified that the film will be different from Prashanth Neel's blockbuster film franchise KGF starring Yash.

Bankrolled by KE Gnanavelraja under the Studio Green banner in association with Neelam Productions, the rest of the cast are yet to be announced officially. However, it has been reported that actor Pasupathy has reportedly joined the cast. If it is true, the film marks the reunion of Pasupathy and Vikram, nearly seven years after 2015’s 10 Endrathukulla.  Kishore Khore who recently worked with Pa Ranjith on Natchathiram Nagargirathu, is handling the cinematographer for the project. It was also speculated that Rashmika Mandanna is part of Chiyaan 61. However, the latest reports suggest that Malavika Mohanan, who was last seen in Maaran, has replaced Rashmika in the upcoming film.
